YTD Financial Report

November 17, 2025, TNA Meeting:

  • Emily Koski provided city budget and other updates
  • October minutes moved & unanimously approved

Budget

  • Unspent money from EEF/NNF food budget: $350 in food budget remaining
    • Suggestion to get table at local restaurant & open to community as holiday event & board recruitment effort

Ross Jonak from Public Works

  • Project #1: Sewer Lateral Insurance
    • Residents own sewer line (including connection)
    • Common issues: root intrusion, gap in connection
    • City taking RFPs for sewer lateral insurance — city will endorse chosen company
      • RFPs starting Jan, likely will be completed mid-2026
      • 100% optional for residents but city endorsement will allow for cheaper pricing/benefits
    • Most sewer laterals are as old as house; avg repair is $13k
    • Some homeowner insurance covers sewer lateral insurance but not all
    • If RFP is successful & company is chosen, how will community be informed?
      • Ross says mailers will get sent out
      • Suggestion from TNA to have RFP winner come to an event (summer party/sponsor us)
    • Ross plans to send TNA info around grant lottery that is currently place for us to share with neighbors
  • Project #2: Working to establish Point of Sale inspection requirements
  • Looking to incorporate into Truth in Housing process
  • Becoming issues must be disclosed but not fixed
  • Tips:
    • Get lateral inspected proactively
    • Limit garbage disposal use
    • Roots can be cut out to extend life
    • Excel/CenterPoint also offers something similar but they are taking cut of fees –  city’s only prerogative is lower rates for all
  • Requests:
    • Asked board to take survey (Andrea emailed link)

2026 Organizational Budget

  • Pat, Andrea, Heather met to discuss budget and are requesting rest of board’s approval
    • Budget that increased YoY: communications b/c of Business Task Force
  • Food budget was decreased slightly because we never use full budget
  • Question about getting website redone; Andrea got estimate back, it was reasonable & is included in budget 
  • Budget unanimously approved

December meeting/gathering

  • Recommendation to spend our $350 additional food budget on food for public event
  • Goal of event: community engagement & board recruitment
  • Unanimously approved
  • Andrea will need to send in request to city — considering La Estancia (have many options outside of steak including veggie options, etc.)
  • Promotion: e-newsletter, social media, Tangletown community FB group, NextDoor
    • Andrea will send follow-up email to board with any requests/needs

Proposed St. John’s for meeting space next year while Fuller is under construction

  • Fuller Park Project still technically not approved

Committee Updates:

Environmental Committee Updates:

  • Looking to transition solar rebate to heat pump OR solar OR insulation rebate for remainder of grant

Equity:

  • Late March virtual committee on how policing is changing in MPLS
  • Homework club meets at Fuller on Thursday nights (primarily but not exclusively Washburn students) & some of the kids are suffering from food insecurity
    • Looking for donations from board & neighborhood
      • Think we need approximately $40–45 from 12 people/families to provide these children food through the holiday season
      • Kids helped write grocery list and Equity Committee will be responsible for getting food bags gathered and distributed 
      • Also sponsoring a Thursday evening meal for the group
    • TO DONATE: write check to Tangletown Neighborhood Assocation and get it to Andrea or Pat ASAP

NDE:

  • Utility wraps still in question
  • Tangletown historian — “a little tangly”
    • Can we link Hennepin County & students together?
    • The Doors of Tangletown book @ library by Liz Walden

Business Engagement: 

  • Comms will go out in Jan

Andrea Updates:

  • Blood drive full other than double red cells
    • Doubling as food drive: need egg cartons & paper grocery bags
  • 1st board meeting in 2026 will be Jan 20
