This month’s equity resource comes from Washburn High School’s admin team, Dr. Emily Palmer, Arslan Aziz, Mark Stauduhar and Michelle Terpening:
“The Minneapolis principals and assistant principals have been reading Nice Racism: How Progressive White People Perpetuate Racial Harm by Robin Diangelo, the author of White Fragility.
One of the big themes of the book is the extent to which “progressive” white folks – who think we are doing all the right things for folks of color – accidentally promote harm because we push forward with our own ideas about what’s good for folks of color rather than listening and truly being in community. It challenges us to re-frame our thinking about our role in ending racism. I think all white folks can learn a lot from this book.”
