Our Annual Compost Pick-Up Fundraiser & Spring Spruce Up
May 16, 2026
9 AM–Noon
Creekside UCC parking lot (106 E. Diamond Lake Rd.)
Tangletown Neighborhood Day is a day to spruce up our neighborhood boulevards, pick up compost to nourish your gardens, and connect with neighbors!
Plate to Garden Compost Pickup Fundraiser*
Tangletown and Lynnhurst volunteers and our partners from Creekside UCC will distribute compost from 9 AM–Noon in the Creekside UCC parking lot–a chance to have food scraps that have been turned into compost nourish your yard. We suggest a donation of $3 per 20 pounds of compost, to help cover the cost of the compost, delivery, and to help fund future environmental programming. Attendees can bring their own fillable containers, or purchase compostable sacks at the event for $2 each. First come, first served.
A representative from the City of Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling department will be on hand to answer curbside and drop-off organics recycling questions.
Spring Spruce Up
There are plenty of reasons to stop by Neighborhood Day, even if you don’t need compost. Pick up free yard waste bags and/or litter bags and help give Tangletown storm drains a spring spruce up (while supplies last). We plan to have a Master Gardener table again, so stop by with your yard care and gardening questions!
Tangletown Neighborhood Association board members and committee volunteers will be at Tangletown Neighborhood Day to share what they are working on. We are recruiting new board members for a 2026-2028 term, with elections taking place at our Annual Meeting on Monday, May 18, at 7 PM. Learn about serving on your neighborhood board.
Volunteer to help at Neighborhood Day! We need volunteers to help shovel compost into buckets and bags and to help clean up after the event. If you can help, please sign up to volunteer here.
* This year’s Plate to Garden Compost event is part of a Hennepin County Green Partners Grant project. Tangletown has partnered with the Kingfield and Lyndale Neighborhood Associations to create a series of events to help educate neighbors on food waste prevention strategies and organics recycling.
