July 21, 2025 TNA meeting:

Attendees, board members: Rob Bedeaux, Claire Blanchette, Keri Diem, Jordan Frederickson, Heather Grovum, Bill O’Brien, Pat Prochaska, Tiffany Reis, Heidi Stennes, Hannah Terry, Mark Tiede, and Will Young

Attendees, non-board members: Bowen Cochran, Parker Reis, and Andrea Siegel

Called to order at 7:07p

  1. Fuller Park update
    1. Retrieving sno cone machine before Summer Party
    2. Spanish Immersion pre-school registration is open for the Fall
  2. Secretary Minutes
    1. Will moved to approved; Mark seconded; passed unanimously
  3. Treasurer update
    1. $12,000 payment from City received last month
    2. Ready for Summer Party
  4. Parker Reis
    1. He shared via email interest in joining the Board
    2. Will moved to have Parker join the board; Heidi seconded; passed unanimously
  5. Bylaw amendment
    1. Will moved to amend the bylaws to have any the term of any board member who is in high school when joining the board to be a one-year term rather than a two-year term
    2. Keri seconded; passed unanimously
  6. Summer Party
    1. Will follow Park Board for any weather cancellations (with Andrea to monitor)
    2. Still need volunteers for setup, teardown, and food service
    3. $25 gift card to St. Paul Bagelry for free throw contest; will seek another gift card
  7. Board Retreat
    1. Online poll circulated with possible dates for August
    2. Will occur on August 14 from 6-830 at the MIA
    3. MIA will donate dinner from Rainbow
    4. There will be no public board meeting in August
  8. HERC
    1. Letter was circulated requesting the board sign on
    2. Discussion about whether appropriate issue for the neighborhood association and whether issue is relevant to neighbors
    3. Discussion about whether to educate others and get feedback from neighbors before deciding whether to vote later
    4. Mark moved to sign the letter; Hannah seconded; motion passed with Bill voting no and with Claire abstaining
    5. We will put information in latest newsletter about the vote and issue
  9. Candidate Forum
    1. Co-sponsor with Community Power, League of Women Voters, Nokomis, Windom, Field, Regina, and Northrup neighborhoods
  10. Committee Updates
    1. Environmental Committee
      1. Put together an Electrify Everything webinar paid for by Hennepin County
        1. Will co-host with several other neighborhoods
        2. Will occur on Zoom
        3. Topic is ways to start electrifying the home while moving away from natural gas
      2. Clothing swap will be August 16 at St. John’s Church from 10-1
      3. Just received grant on Organics Recycling and Food Waste
      4. Still asking people to adopt a storm drain
    2. Equity Committee
      1. Targeting October 16 for Bystander Training with several other neighborhoods
        1. Will be online forum at 7pm
      2. About 8 attendees for visit to George Floyd Squrae
        1. Very informative but frustrating to see what work still needs to be done
    3. NDE Committee
      1. Focused on Summer Fest planning
      2. Working on transition historical information from Tom Balcom as he moves
      3. Trying to figure out next steps with the business spreadsheet
  11. Executive Director update:
    1. Pulling together info for fall newsletter
    2. Spanish translator is moving, but will continue through 2026
    3. Need to revisit the website and getting recommendations from other neighborhoods
