May Day Food Drive

Registration is now closed for 2022. Thank you to those who are participating!

Last year, Tangletown neighbors donated over 2,000 pounds of food as part of our annual food drive for Joyce Uptown Foodshelf. Now in its third year, we hope to top that number and collect even more food and essentials for those in need.

Please join the Tangletown Neighborhood Association in participating in our Food Drive. On Sunday May 1, we’re asking residents to place items for donation on their front steps before 10am. We will organize volunteers who will come pick up your items for donation. Registration is required so we can send a volunteer to your home for pick up. If you live in a nearby neighborhood, we should be able to accommodate a pick up within reason. Registration deadline April 28.

In order to make this event possible, we need people to volunteer to pick up the food drive donations. This will require a vehicle and a willingness to spend an hour or two picking up donations and transporting to Joyce Uptown Foodshelf. Sign up to volunteer here.

In 2021, we collected 192 bags of donations totaling 2,179.5 pounds of food!

In addition to food, the greatest needs are for the following items:

  • Diapers/Wipes
  • Toothbrushes/paste
  • Tampons/pads

Please no expired food.

If you prefer, you may make a financial contribution on the Joyce Uptown Foodshelf website: joyceuptownfoodshelf.org where you can also find a link to volunteer at the food shelf.

If you are experiencing food scarcity and need access to food at the Joyce Uptown Foodshelf, call 612-825-4431 to schedule an appointment.
