Earth Day is April 22. This year, the Tangletown Environmental Committee invites you to commemorate the Earth for not just one day but for the whole month of April! Find something that you can do to live more sustainably, prevent pollution or be more carbon neutral and adopt that practice for one whole month! By taking our pledge, you’ll be entered to win one of two $50 gift cards to The Foundry Home Goods! There are lots of ways big and small that you can celebrate the Earth all month long. Here are just a few ideas:
- Give up bottled water and start carrying your own water bottle
- Raise your awareness by watching a movie about plastics pollution (try The Story of Plastics, we’re even hosting a screening and discussion on April 15!) or the environmental impact of textiles (The True Cost)
- Request an organics recycling bin from the city and start recycling your organics
- Adopt a storm drain at Adopt-a-drain.org (we offer supplies for free once you sign up!)
- Research and join a community solar organization
- Install a smart thermostat in your house
- Try bar shampoo and conditioner so you can stop buying shampoos and conditioner in plastic bottles
- Research Resilient Yards and install a raingarden or bee friendly lawn at your house (we are holding a workshop on this on June 3. Check it out!)
- Check out our resources and recorded trainings about reducing textile waste and commit to make one change to reduce your textile waste
Use an idea above or come up with your own challenge. Then submit your Earth Day Pledge via this form by April 30. Submit a photo of you doing your sustainable action and get a bonus entry in our raffle! We will compile all the entries and raffle off two $50 gift cards to The Foundry Home Goods to randomly selected winners in May.
