Sign up for an “inside look” at what happens to solid waste from our homes and businesses. Hennepin County’s Brooklyn Park Transfer Station waste drop-off facility provides an opportunity for residents to properly manage household hazardous waste, recyclables, organics, and problem materials such as computers, TVs and appliances. Tours describe how the facility processes this waste and highlight the importance of reducing, reusing, recycling and preventing pollution. Join your neighbors for this informative adventure!

Attendees will meet at the Visitor Center at the transfer station at 2:45 PM on November 6. Tours last approximately 1.5 hours. Need a ride? Tangletown Environmental Committee members have volunteered to offer rides to those who need transportation. Space is limited, so please let us know if you need a ride when you register here.

Other information: Visitors should be prepared for noise, dust, smells, climbing several flights of stairs and walking outdoors.  Because the inside of the facility is sometimes very dusty, visitors with respiratory health issues should inform the tour guide of any health concerns in advance. Visitors must wear closed-toe, flat-heeled shoes or boots. See the Visitor’s Guide here.

Registration is required and attendees must bring with a printed and signed Visitor Agreement.
